Klang's iconic Bak Kut Teh
Charity Festival
The Centro Klang Bak Kut Teh Charity Festival is held annually blending heritage, flavour and charity to support local charity homes in need.
The event featured over 20 stalls offering various types of bak kut teh, with coupons purchased and proceeds benefiting organizations like Persatuan Kebajikan Rumah Grace Klang and other homes for the elderly and disabled.

A Dish That Defines Klang
Klang, long celebrated as the birthplace of Bak Kut Teh, is preparing for another milestone celebration that unites food, culture, and compassion.
Klang’s iconic Bak Kut Teh has grown into more than just a hearty, aromatic broth in Klang — it represents the town’s cultural identity and immigrant history. Generations of families have passed down the tradition, turning it into an enduring symbol of resilience and flavour that continues to inspire countless variations worldwide.
This charity festival is more than just an event, it is an opportunity to enjoy one of Malaysia’s most iconic dishes while giving back to the community. It is not only about food; it’s about unity, culture, and giving back.
Food With A Purpose
At its core, the festival is to eat for charity, supporting local charity homes by selling coupons for bak kut teh meals. It extends beyond culinary enjoyment by emphasising social responsibility.
Proceeds and contributions will be channelled to eight local charity homes serving the elderly, people with disabilities, and children with special needs.
Every bowl served feeds not only appetites, it tells a story of Klang and supports a greater cause.
Heritage For Generations
While Bak Kut Teh is a treasured symbol of Klang, organisers are also mindful of the challenge of keeping traditions alive in modern times, where global cuisines and fast food often appeal more strongly to younger audiences. The festival seeks to bridge that gap by promoting local heritage, encouraging cultural engagement, and highlighting the authentic roots of the dish.
Now in its fifth year, the Centro Klang Bak Kut Teh Festival has grown beyond its beginnings as a food event into a movement that unites community pride with compassion. It is a celebration that elevates Klang’s iconic dish from the dining table to a larger stage of cultural preservation and social goodwill.
